Meet TAKE5
Our story starts a long, long time ago in the early 2000s. Strange things were happening in America around that time. That other Chicago team somehow won the World Series for the first time in forever. And cat videos became a very serious addiction with the launch of YouTube. America was in a weird place. Societal molds were being broken and people were starting to dare to be different. So we thought it was time The Hershey Company did the same.
The original idea was to create a pretzel covered in caramel. Different enough, right? But mastering the moisture level proved to be difficult; the caramel kept making the pretzel soggy. And ain’t nobody likes a soggy pretzel. So we needed a barrier that was thick enough to keep the pretzel crunchy, but not overwhelmingly sweet, paired with the caramel. That’s where peanut butter comes in. It was perfect. Caramel, pretzels and peanut butter wrapped in chocolate, a snack fit for the gods. But it needed something else. Something to give it a little texture. Peanuts. Not only did the nuts make the bar look cooler, but they also added a little extra crunch. After one bite we knew the world would never be the same. Individually each ingredient was good, but together they were magical. And just like that, in December 2004, the TAKE5 Bar was born. Right in time for the new year. Four inches, 1.5 ounces of sweet and salty, crunchy and chewy deliciousness. It was an instant cult classic. And now it’s about to be your new favorite snack. ..in 2-3 business days (give or Take).
