Podravka Fant Seasoning Mix For Beans

Fant for beans and stews is based on an original recipe with a selection of natural seasonings and dehydrated vegetables to give excellent flavour. Cooking time is significant shortened, and meal preparation made easy. Use it when making beans with sauerkraut or turnips, beans with barley, beans with meat, winter stews, and more.

Bean stew with cabbage

Ingredients

300 g fresh cabbage

3 tablespoons oil

150 g Kranj sausages (2 sausages)

50 g pancetta

1 package chopped tomatoes (390 g)

1 packet Fant for beans and stews

2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

1 tin brown beans (800 g)

1 tablespoon chopped parsley

Directions

1. In hot oil, fry sliced sausages and cubed pancetta. Add in chopped tomatoes and sauté over low heat about 5 minutes.

2. Mix contents of Fant packet with 100 ml warm water, and let stand several minutes.

3. Add in water and Fant mixture.

4. Add chopped cabbage, bring to the boil and cook another ten minutes. Mix in balsamic vinegar. Rinse and drain beans, add to pot. Cook another 5 minutes.

Tips & tricks

  • If you are using raw beans, you need to soak them before cooking
  • By adding a tablespoon of baking soda you'll shorten the cooking time
  • If desired, you can make this meal with a variety of legumes
  • Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve.

Podravka Fant Seasoning Mix for Stew and Paprikash

Fant for goulash [Z1] and paprikash is the base for delicious dishes with a real wealth of flavours. Contains onion, paprika, tomatoes, marjoram and other spices. With 500 g of meat, you can enjoy sumptuous goulash or paprikash with a delicious sauce. Also use to make goulash soup, potato goulash, in preparing tripe stew, kale or leek stews, and other sautéed dishes.

Beef and vegetable goulash

Ingredients to serve 4:

5 tablespoons oil

500 g beef, cubed

salt

100 ml red wine

1 packet Fant for goulash and paprikash

150 g carrots

300 g frozen peas

1 tablespoon chopped parsley

Instructions

1. Cut beef into cubes, season with salt and fry in hot oil.

2. Add a little water and cover, sautéing over low heat about 40 minutes. Stir occasionally and add water as needed.

3. When the meat is tender, remove pan from heat. Add in wine, 600 ml water and contents of Fant packet. Return to heat and bring to the boil, then add sliced carrots, peas and cook another 15 – 20 minutes.

Tips & tricks

  • For a succulent stew, meat should be slightly salted first and briefly fried and poured with water
  • Water should be added in small quantities, repeatedly through cooking
  • Sprinkle goulash with parsley and serve.

Fant for stuffed peppers and cabbage rolls contains all the necessary spices and seasonings. This base for these dishes is a carefully balanced blend of seasonings to ensure a full, delicious flavour for meat. Use this Fant to prepare a wide selection of dishes featuring vegetables stuffed with ground meat and rice.

Baked stuffed peppers

Ingredients to serve 3:

1 packet Fant for stuffed peppers and cabbage rolls

300 g ground meat

50 g rice

50 g grated cheese

3 fresh peppers

Instructions

1. Mix contents of Fant packet in 50 ml warm water, stir to dissolve, and let stand several minutes.

2. Add cooked rice and prepared Fant to ground meat, combine well.

3. Cut peppers in half and clean.

4. Stuff with prepared meat mixture and sprinkle with grated cheese.

5. Place stuffed peppers in a greased baking dish.

6. Bake for 45 minutes at 200°C in preheated oven.

Tips & tricks

  • In addition to peppers, you can also stuff zucchini, eggplant or tomatoes with the meat mixture.
  • Try wrapping the meat in fresh cabbage leaves or sauerkraut, collard greens, kale or grapevine leaf.
