About the Brand

Ahmad Tea of London draws upon knowledge and experience gained from three generations of family activity in all areas of the tea trade, from plantations to blending and packaging.

The name of Ahmad Tea is synonymous with the very finest teas. Our expert tea tasters have sampled teas from many gardens around the world in search of suitable tea leaves to make the perfect cup. After careful selection, traditional methods of hand plucking ensure that the tea arrives in perfect condition, with the freshness and flavour intact. The leaves are then meticulously blended to meet our high standards of quality and consistency. Teas can only be used after the Director of Tea Tasting has personally tasted each blend and approved it for production. The result is an excellent cup of tea, with impeccable liquor, colour, aroma and flavour.

The company was established with the belief that our reputation must be founded on the quality of our teas. The commitment to quality remains today. It is reflected in the image, branding and packaging of the entire Ahmad Tea product range and has led to sales in more than forty-five countries, spanning across five continents.

Ahmad Tea is based in Hampshire, England, with a US office in Deer Park, Texas.

From our family to yours, we share the gift of Ahmad Tea.

Why Drink Tea? - Great Nutritional Value

“There doesn’t seem to be a downside to tea,” says American Dietetic Association spokeswoman Katherine Tallmadge, MA, RD, LD. Taken without milk or sugar, tea contains no calories and the addition of semi-skimmed milk adds approximately 13 calories to a cup, making tea a healthy alternative to most soft drinks and beverages. Tea is known to be a natural source of fluoride, potassium, manganese and vitamin B2.

Why Drink Tea? - Contains Anti-Oxidants

Tea is known to be a valuable source of anti-oxidants, which assist in fighting free radicals within the body. The major group of antioxidants in tea are flavonoids that appear to be digested, absorbed and metabolised by the body. Green teas contain more of the simple flavonoids called catechins, whilst the oxidisation that the leaves undergo to make black tea converts these simple flavonoids to the more complex varieties called theaflavins and thearubigins.

Why Drink Tea? - Decreases Cognitive Impairment

In 2010 researchers studying dementia, cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease found that people who consumed tea had significantly less cognitive decline than non-tea drinkers. The study used data on more than 4,800 men and women aged 65 and older from the Cardiovascular Health Study to examine change in cognitive function over time. Study participants were followed for up to 14 years for naturally-occurring cognitive decline.

Why Drink Tea? - Aids Weight Loss

Tea, particularly green, has recently been linked with weight loss in adults. This link has arisen from the basis that tea is thought to have a metabolizing effect upon body fats and therefore prove beneficial to weight loss as part of a weight loss program. There is also a suggestion that green tea consumption can increase endurance in exercise by improving fat metabolism.

Brew the Perfect Cup of Tea

1. Heating the Water

Always use freshly drawn water. Water which has previously been boiled will have become de-oxygenated and will not produce a good liquor. If possible, the water should be filtered to remove the chlorine and other additives that affect the taste. Heat water to the temperature recommended for your tea using an electric hot water heater or a stovetop kettle.

2. Selecting the Tea

Choose your favorite blend from our large selection of teas. Black teas are the most frequently used as part of the afternoon tea custom. However, if you’re looking for a lighter tea, select from one of our many delicious green teas or herbal infusions. Use 1 teaspoon of tea per person, plus one for the pot.

3. Brewing Tips

Once the water reaches the appropriate temperature, it should be poured immediately onto the tea leaves to allow the best brew. Check the pack or the table below for brewing times as this varies between blends. When brewing, cover the teapot with a tea cosy to keep the heat in. When your tea is done steeping, immediately remove the tea bag and lightly stir.
