Awards: Good Food Awards Finalist 2017 Our Notes: The Blueberry Lavender is a pairing of 2 flavors that really go well together in a way I would not initially expect. Lavender is such a strong herb, but the quality of the fruit and skilled artisan technique makes it work wonderfully. Food for Thought has captured the intense ripe flavor of blueberries picked at the height of ripeness and then simmer long and slow to preserve that delicate flavor while reaching a concentration resulting in a delicious preserve. Highly recommended. Producer's Notes: The Organic Blueberry Lavender is the same product I’ve been making for over 20 years with the same lavender we grow on our farm and I still buy the blueberries from the same farmer. Blueberry flavor is ideal for cheese paring. Blueberry Lavender is a good pastry filling and cheesecake/dessert toppings. Right now my favorite use for Blueberry Lavender is simply to put a dollop of it over a bowl of plain yogurt with mixed salted nuts. I’m addicted. The contrasts and interplay between the salt/tart/sweet along with the lavender aroma is over the top. About the Producer: Timothy Young co-founded "Food For Thought" 20 years ago with a commitment to "create and raise awareness around just and sustainable food" I met him and his daughter at recent "Good Food Awards" where he was winning his second straight award for creating a delicious preserve. A small, certified organic production facility, Food For Thought is located in northern Michigan in the heart of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Their building was carefully built with concern for the planet, using green and recycled materials. That same care and concern is put into their products, which are small batch, family farmed, use intentional ingredients and are finished with a great deal of love and commitment.
