The Gubana ( Grappa Pie ) is undoubtedly the most representative Friulian dessert. A base of sweet leavened dough with a filling of walnuts, raisins, pine nuts, sugar, marsala, rum, brandy, grappa and grated lemon rind. "Guba“ in the Slovenian language means to bend or twist, a gesture that gives it the classic spiral shape: often known as the symbol used to represent positivity and good luck.
