After failing to find quality, natural products for her family and clients of her retreat in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Jang Bauerle decided to take matters into her own hand, and teamed up with Singaporean Daphne Hedley to found Mekhala. Mekhala has since grown into a well-loved Singaporean/Thai whole foods brand that produces organic, all-natural, gluten-free, vegan-friendly foods made with only the best ingredients. Based in Singapore, we make our products in our own facility in Chiang Mai, where we source beautiful ingredients from local farmers. We also provide good working conditions and fair practices for women from the marginalised Burmese Shan community to improve their welfare, and we have developed a system that allows us to hire even those who are illiterate .
