This genmaicha originates from a tea maker in the famous Ujiwara township in Kyoto Prefecture in western Japan. Originally created as a "poor man's tea", the rich nutty flavor of the roasted brown rice found in genmaicha is now enjoyed as one of the most popular teas in Japan and around the world.
